OE 100 & OE Blended Standards

As global consumers become increasingly interested in food, apparel and other products that contain organic ingredients, it is essential to maintain their trust in the term “organic.” While strong standards already exist for organic foods, the cotton industry requires standards that address its unique needs.

Organic Exchange has addressed this by working with experts from around the world to develop the OE 100 and OE Blended Standards, which support fiber-only claims.

Organic Exchange Essential Guide to Certification is now available.  This guide is designed to help brands and retailers understand what is needed to support product integrity while working with organic fibers.   OE 100 Standard
The OE 100 Standard is for tracking and documenting the purchase, handling and use of 100% certified organic cotton fiber in yarns, fabrics and finished goods. 		    OE 100 Blended Standard
The OE Blended Standard is for tracking and documenting the purchase, handling and use of certified organically farmed cotton fiber in blended yarns, fabrics and finished goods. The standard applies to all goods that contain a minimum of 5% organic cotton.

This document describes the guidelines that govern the use of the OE standards logos on products certified to the OE 100 or OE Blended standards. 		    OE Essential Guide to Certification

The OE 100 and OE Blended are voluntary private standards. We encourage companies to use these standards to verify the authenticity of goods received from suppliers, as well as to safeguard the integrity of their own product claims. The standards do not address the use of chemicals or any other aspects of production beyond the integrity of the organic fiber.
